Musk finally admits why he yeeted his car into space
Elon Musk just revealed the real reason his cherry red Tesla Roadster has been drifting between Earth and Mars since 2018: he fully expected Falcon Heavy's debut flight to blow up. Rather than risk a real satellite or paying customer's cargo, SpaceX strapped a mannequin named Starman into his own car and sent it up as an expendable stunt. The rocket didn't fail, and now that Roadster is basically a monument to hedged bets, cruising through space for the next 10 million years.
