Apple's $3,499 headset bet just got a reality check
Apple is laying off more than 200 employees from its Vision Pro and Siri teams, according to Bloomberg, effectively gutting the Vision Pro gaming unit and shrinking the immersive content group. The headset launched in 2024 with sky-high hype and an even higher $3,499 price tag, but it never became the hit Apple hoped for. Meanwhile Siri keeps lagging behind rivals, and Apple's real pivot now looks like smart glasses to compete with Meta, reportedly landing by late 2027.
