Bumble drops the rule that made it Bumble
Bumble just torched the founding rule that made it famous: women no longer have to message first. Anyone in a match can now send that opening line, and Bumble is also giving matches 72 hours to reply instead of 24. CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd calls it an "evolution," citing survey data showing 66% of women actually prefer men to break the ice. The timing is not subtle though, Bumble's revenue just dropped 15.2% year over year, and paying users are shrinking too.
Nothing says "empowering women" quite like reversing course the second the stock needs saving.
