Ghosting long term partners, once reserved for bad Tinder dates, is now happening to people four plus years into relationships, cohabiting and all, according to a wave of accounts collected by WIRED. The trend has gotten so normalized that Dating.com just created a literal job for it: a 'chief breakup officer' who will end your relationship for you, for $3,000 a month. Vogue UK even coined a term for it this summer, 'the disappearing boyfriend,' as expectations around basic communication keep eroding in app-driven dating culture.
