Zuck to OpenAI and Anthropic: y'all are just closed-minded
Mark Zuckerberg is done playing nice. After Llama 4 landed with a thud and Meta quietly leaned on closed-door deals, Zuck is now publicly slamming rivals like OpenAI and Anthropic as "closed" gatekeepers, while pitching Meta's return to open-weight AI models as the moral high ground. It's a rebrand attempt: after burning billions and losing the open-source narrative war, Meta wants back in as the industry's free-software good guy, right as regulators and developers start caring who actually controls the AI stack.
Nothing says "we love openness" like a guy who owns your face, your friends list, and your data.
