Musk might ditch Tesla's China empire to fuse it with SpaceX
Tesla executives have reportedly been told to prep for splitting off the company's China business, per the Wall Street Journal, and the real reason isn't tariffs or competition, it's Elon Musk possibly merging Tesla with SpaceX. Since SpaceX is a defense contractor bound by strict national security rules, keeping Tesla's massive China operations attached would be a legal nightmare. Musk had already told execs to prep a China exit plan in case Beijing invades Taiwan, so the infrastructure for this split already exists. China is Tesla's biggest market and a key production hub, so cutting it loose would be a massive concession just to make Musk's corporate Voltron dream real.
Nothing says 'stable business strategy' like restructuring your global empire around your boss's sci-fi merger fantasy.
