Hollywood writers are literally training their AI replacements
With film production down roughly 35%, award-winning Hollywood writers, directors and producers are picking up gig work for $12 to $200 an hour teaching AI models like those from OpenAI and Anthropic how to write screenplays and build shooting schedules, the very jobs they used to do. One screenwriter, Ruth Fowler, called it being "handed a shovel and asked to dig the grave of my profession." Netflix already used AI in 300 of its 1,000 2026 titles, and the trend is accelerating fast.
Nothing says late-stage capitalism like paying someone to hand-carve their own pink slip.
